fun with duotone
SUNDAY, JANUARY 22, 2006

I got asked to do an illustration for a journal that the Shivas Iron Society does I think twice a year. The design agency in charge of this project had a whole section printed in duotone, which is always pretty rad.

The story was about golf having too many rules and regulations almost to the point of ridiculousness. Both the art director and myself felt that the illo shouldn't be too serious. I sent them the sketch which everyone liked the concept but felt the background should be a bit more abstract, so I came up with that first version...sort of this geometric golf course, which actually got sent back to me with instructions to simplify.....

Anyways, looking back I think the AD was probably right....geometric golf course?! pshhh

The inside drawing (with lyrics) is of random people, the band member's portraits mixed in. p.s. ara once again saved me with awesome type skillz. and kerning. i learned to appreciate the subtle art of kerning
